Claim a Health Fund Rebate on Your Contact Lenses
If you are a member of an eligible Australian private health fund, you may be able to claim a rebate on your prescription contact lens purchase — even when ordering online.Every order we send includes a fully itemised receipt and our registered provider number. That is everything your health fund needs to process a rebate claim. Depending on your fund, you can claim in store at a branch, online through your fund's member portal, or via their app.
How to Claim Your Rebate
1. Place your order — purchase your prescription contact lenses as normal through Contact Lenses Online2. Receive your invoice — your itemised invoice and provider number will be included with your order
3. Lodge your claim — submit your claim directly with your health fund in store, online, or via their app with the itemised invoice
Essential Claim Requirements
Valid Prescription — You must hold a current contact lens prescription issued by a registered optometrist. Orders must match the exact brand, power, and lens type specified on that prescription.
Name on the Order — Your order must be placed in the name of the health fund member for whom the lenses are prescribed. The name on your receipt must match the name on the prescription.
What Your Health Fund Won't Cover — Most insurers do not cover non-prescription (plano) contact lenses, cosmetic lenses, lens solutions, eye drops, or shipping fees. Check your policy before claiming.
Important Notice Regarding Health Fund Claims
To comply with health fund regulations, the name on your receipt must exactly match the name on the contact lens prescription for the person the lenses were ordered for. Submitting a claim with inaccurate or false information, including mismatched names or incorrect prescription details, constitutes fraudulent claiming and is a criminal offence under Australian law.
